The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University (based in Philadelphia, PA, USA), is one of the largest campus-based international study programs in the United States and serves a total of over 2200 students each year from over 200 colleges and universities around the country.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a skilled and engaging student-centered leader to take on the pivotal role of Director of New Zealand Programs and Enterprise. The College programs in New Zealand currently support on average 250 students per year with a plan for strategic enrollment growth moving forward. The New Zealand team consists of 2 full time staff, including the Director and 4-5 part-time graduate assistants. Offerings in New Zealand are a combination of partnerships with New Zealand Universities and short-term or semester collaborative/cohort programs.
The primary responsibility of the Director is to implement all student programs, engagement activities and support services as well as plan and oversee the strategic growth of the education-abroad programming in New Zealand. In collaboration with US senior leadership, the Director is expected to construct an educational environment grounded in The College Hallmarks of Teaching and Learning that invites students to participate in a community of learning; encourages the student to interact meaningfully with New Zealand culture and society, and challenges them to engage with the realities of difference.
Leading and managing student programs includes all aspects of these programs such as budgeting for activities, preparing and leading excursions, orientations and student activities, hiring speakers and lectures, scheduling welcome and farewell lunches and dinners, and pastoral care of students.
Success in this role will require the Director to develop and maintain excellent relationships with partners; engage their professional networks with local communities, and ensure a quality educational experience for students participating on The College programs in New Zealand.
The role calls for an innovative, versatile, student-engagement-centered, creative higher education professional who will bring energy and expertise to this pivotal strategic leadership role.

The Director is expected to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays as programs and events require. Student excursions often include hiking, kayaking, and other activities that are physically demanding. A willingness to secure a P license to transport students on activity weekends is desired. Completion of first aid and mental first aid training will be required.
The Director is expected to be on call after hours for all serious emergencies and for standard emergencies which cannot be handled by the after-hours on-call staff. S/he may also be expected to travel within the region or to the U.S. on occasion for risk assessment, management of serious student issues, program development and planning, and staff training.
This is a work from home position. Close proximity to one of the locations where Arcadia Abroad hosts students (Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Wellington) is preferred.
