The Arcadia Athens Center is pleased to announce a new internship placement for students taking the Athens Internship program, at the International Alliance of Women (IAW), an international NGO comprising 41 member organizations. Founded in 1904, the IAW is based in Geneva and promotes the rights of women and girls across the globe.

The placement is in the office of Joanna Manganara, President of the IAW and a former Minister-Counselor for human rights at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Interns will act as President Manganara's personal assistant, with a strong focus on research. There will also be the opportunity for the intern to engage in a personal research project. This will be a unique experience for students as they work with such a leading authority on human rights activism in addition to gaining valuable research experience.

In addition to having general consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, IAW is accredited to many specialized UN agencies, has participatory status with the Council of Europe and is represented at the Arab League, the African Union and other international organizations.
