The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Andrew George as our next Regional Director for the United Kingdom. Mr. George will assume his new position on February 28th at the University’s London Center.
Mr. George is currently responsible for the administration and development of Queen Mary University London’s international education programs and the strategic development of the University’s international academic and research partnerships. Part of the University of London since 1915, Queen Mary now awards full degrees in its own right and is ranked in the top 1% of leading research institutions in the world. As Senior International Officer with the University, Andrew has over the last 17 years provided vision and leadership to the team of international educators that have contributed to the rise of the Queen Mary from an institution that primarily supported students in East London to a globalized research university where 44% of the student body is international.
Lorna Stern, Vice President of Arcadia University and Executive Director of The College of Global Studies, said: “I am delighted that Andrew is joining The College. I have had the privilege of knowing him for many years and have been an admirer of his stellar work in international education at Queen Mary, one of The College’s partnerships in the UK. Queen Mary is a major force within the US education abroad and the UK international education sectors, which is due in no small part to the deep integrity, thoughtful vision, and administrative competence that are the hallmarks of Andrew’s leadership and the work of his team.”
While Mr. George has enjoyed a long and successful tenure at Queen Mary, a fact known among a select few is that he began his career in international education in 1988 as the Principal Academic Officer with the then Center for Education Abroad, Beaver College London program. Mr. George is thus coming full circle by joining The College and we look forward to the leadership that he will bring to The College’s London-based programs and to the United Kingdom and Ireland region. As a professional, he has a long history in education abroad, is deeply familiar with many of The College’s current program partners, and is well known and respected throughout the UK international education community, NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the Forum on Education Abroad, and other international education organizations.
