Dr. Laurence Scott, a dedicated faculty member at Arcadia University’s London Center, had an article featured in the December issue of the prestigious The New Yorker, titled “The Big and Small of Bad Internet News.” This article discusses the impact of social media and how social media now has the tendency to focus on the current events of the world as well as the events that are occurring in everyone’s personal lives.

Dr. Scott goes in depth by referring to various historical events that have occurred within the last few years and the role social media has played in informing individuals of them. He discusses both the benefits and disadvantages of social media reporting these major headlines and analyzes how society interprets them.

He incorporates his knowledge of the relationship society has with technology and social media from his novel to make a compelling yet informative case about social media in this article. He has previous experience writing on the topic, as he is the author of the Jerwood Award winning book, The Four Dimensional Human.
