Newest Edition of IMPACT Magazine Commemorates 65K Study Abroad Students

The 2014 edition of IMPACT magazine, has been published by The College of Global Studies at Arcadia University and is now available to read and can be viewed as an e-book.

As this edition marks the milestone of 65,000 students to study abroad with The College at Arcadia, The College decided to highlight some unique perspectives from alumni of different programs and years of study and to include some fascinating photos of the early days of study abroad in the ‘40s and ‘50s – riveting moments captured forever.

This issue also includes an interview with Dr. Nicolette DeVille Christensen, President of Arcadia University, in which she shares her thoughts on how international education is becoming increasingly critical to higher education institutions.

This discussion is expanded upon by an interview with Dr. David Larsen, who led Arcadia’s study abroad efforts for many years and by Dr. Andrew Law, Director of off-Campus Study, Denison University. Dr. Law discusses Education Abroad’s Evolving Role within Higher Education and promotes debate around what this means for institutions, faculty and student learning.

The College is also pleased to have a feature contribution in this issue from Dr. Heather Reid, Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Morningside College, who writes wonderfully about Experiential Learning in an Ancient World.

Editorial contributions from Arcadia students and staff complement this issue’s cover stories. Dr. Alison LaLond Wyant, Assistant Dean for Experiential Education at The College shares her NAFSA Colloquium discussion around Meaning Making and Mission in Experiential Education Abroad.
