Akpor Otebele, an expert on Nollywood (cinema from Nigeria) and director of the Arusha African Film Festival, will lecture at Arcadia University on an overview of African cinema using specific examples of Nollywood features, practices, and culture. Otebele is a cofounder of Hakika Entertainment, a film, video, theater and media arts production company based in Arusha, Tanzania. In the past, he has taught a course in African cinema through The College of Global Studies.
He will be giving a lecture on Friday, April 11 at 3, which will also include a screening and discussion of Victor Viyuoh’s Ninah’s Dowry, a noted Nollywood production. The event is free and open to the public. Details of this event can be found in the Arcadia Bulletin.
