On March 20th, History was made when Barack Obama became the first US President to visit Cuba in 88 years. One of our students, Florence Rivkin, had an article published about the President's visit in the New York Times. Our students keep on providing proof of how talented and well prepared they are for a brilliant future.
Arcadia students chose their destination to experience first hand the daily realities of Cuba and how the long expected changes were or were not taking place. But they could never imagine they would be able to watch their President in Havana speaking about Cuban future in harmony with the US and part of the same continent: America.
President Obama later met and gave a speech with with Cuban President Raúl Castro, showing a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere. Then, On March 22nd, he gave a historic speech at Gran Teatro de La Habana. The speech showed great respect for Cuban people, history, and their achievements, as well as for their freedom.
Full details about Obama's trip can be found on the Arcadia Cuba News.
