Amber McDaniel, a Psychology and English senior at Arcadia University, recently contributed to the Bigfork Eagle where she shares her experiences from her spring 2015 semester at Oxford University.
McDaniel says in the piece that she decided to attend Arcadia for its vast study abroad options, but the program in Oxford appealed to her the most. She initially thought an acceptance to study at the prestigious university was a “pipe dream,” but despite what McDaniel calls a “rigorous” application process, she was accepted to study at Oxford’s St. Anne’s College for two terms.
During her mid-March break, McDaniel completed a six-week backpacking trip through Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Bulgaria. After the end of her second term, she embarked on another journey: a two-month trip through Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
McDaniel says her travels were “ambitious and exhausting,” but have prepared her for more adventures in the future.
