Blogs Abroad: Baguettes, Mona Lisa and Way Too Much Cheese

This is Arcadia's weekly roundup of highlights from student blogs abroad.

This week is relatively light on updates compared to most, due to the fact that many of our student bloggers are out traveling this week. So look forward to hearing all about their adventures in the future! For now though, we have updates from Jonathan, who journeyed to "the land of cheese" (Paris) for the weekend, and Allison, who acquainted herself with rural Ireland by hiking to Clifden Castle.

Baguettes, Mona Lisa and Way Too Much Cheese

Jonathan in London, England

Eiffel Tower"It’s time to leave the UK and embark on a journey to the land of cheese!! I have made it to Paris and plan on meeting up with friends from back home to explore. I have already been to Paris once before, but this time I plan on seeing new sights. I successfully avoided the lines at the Louvre by using the Lion’s entrance (secret entrance that anyone should use!) and unwillingly climbed the Eiffel Tower by foot. It was definitely worth the trek and the view was amazing. Exploring Paris at night was a highlight and the food was out of this world. I visited Les Invalides, The Rodin Sculpture Garden, Musee d’Orsay, the lock bridge, and Notre Dame. Like always, book in advance and make sure you research your hostels. I recommend checking out air b n b actually and would also recommend the 6th, 7th, or 12th district to stay in. Use the metro whenever you can and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

A Hike to a Castle

Allison in Galway, Ireland

Clifden Castle"For our last day in Clifden, Gabbi and I came up with different options to spend our remaining time. We asked our host about suggestions for the day. Depending on what we chose to do, Gabbi and I could take the 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. bus back to Galway. I asked about the Connemara National Park and Kylemore Abbey as possible destinations for us, but once we looked over the bus times to get back to Clifden after spending time at the park, we realized there was not a returning bus."
