It might be the glitz and glamour of Surfers paradise, so called because the bronzed Aussie Gods do actually surf there, or it might be the meter maids in their golden bikinis doing their good deed for the day, but it’s “Golden” to me because you wake up 300 days out of 365 with glorious weather and there is always something new and exhilarating to wet your appetite!

The world has recently also discovered what an absolute GEM the Gold Coast is too, voting Bond University the ‘Best Beachside Uni’ in the world, according to the Independent Education network, Study International.

I have lived here for only 9 months and I’m still discovering the best places to get my smashed avocado and feta on sourdough for breakie, the “flat white” percolated to perfection and of course which, of the many, weekend markets will do the best gluten free organic donut – for reference, it’s the Village Markets TVM at Burleigh on a Sunday. So good - you’ll want a six pack.

I know 35 past students from Arcadia who would agree with me, having spent an entire semester here lapping up the sunshine, sand and spectacular waves at the 21 patrolled beaches which cover a whopping 57km of coastline! That’s over 35 miles! I even had a student who chose to visit a different beach each week on her day off from uni– because what’s better than going to the beach to study?!

What are you waiting for?! The Gold Coast is calling you, get over here!
