Coming up on Tuesday 5 March is Pancake Day! Which means in homes throughout the UK people will be having pancakes for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.

Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday) marks the arrival of Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday. Traditionally Shrove Tuesday was the last day people had to use up fatty foods like milk and eggs before starting their 40 day fast for Lent. So what better to do with milk and eggs then make a ton of pancakes?
Pancake day is observed in many countries as an opportunity for a final bit of excess before Lent, you might also know it as Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday”.

GET INVOLVED

Whether you are studying in London or elsewhere throughout the UK, we have listed below a number of ways that you can celebrate Pancake Day.

  • Arcadia students in London on Tuesday can join us at the Center, where we will be giving away FREE pancakes, cooked up by staff. All details will be posted in the Spring Facebook Group on Monday.
  • Get together with some friends and cook your own pancakes at home. These recipes have Perfect Pancakes and gluten-free pancakes sorted.
  • Check out Time Out for other ways you can celebrate Pancake Day around London!

Whatever you end up doing, make sure it involves at least one pancake drizzled in lemon and sugar.

Happy Pancake Day!
