This semester has been full to the brim of outstanding students that have fully embraced their time abroad. One of those students is Jillian Arenson, an Arcadia student blogger, who has spent the semester at the University of Westminster having already studied abroad with us as a First Year Study Abroad Experience (FYSAE) student back in 2012.
Amongst all of her other achievements, Jillian featured on the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) website. Her article is a delight to read. We have featured a snippet of it below.
Congratulations Jillian!
Growing up is the time when one finds out who they really are. That can be by becoming passionate about something, discovering a talent, finding a purpose, and picturing their future. College is the perfect time for growing in all of these aspects of life and helping one find themselves. College gives everyone the chance to do all of them. By picking a major(s) or minor, joining a sports team or intramural team, and even joining a club or organization, it all helps someone develop a better sense of who they are.
College takes one out of their comfort zone and brings them to a brand new scary place. The uncomfortable and scary places are what help one find who they are though. Alan Alda said, “You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.”
