Irish attractions on Lonely Planet must see list

The Lonely Planet’s list of the top 500 must see sights of all time are out and Ireland have six on the list! This world famous travel guide has listed several of the places we will be bringing students on co-curricular activities this semester:

• At number 103 on the list we have the incredible Giant’s Causeway. These stone columns formed over millions of year attract scores of tourists every year. Situated on the majestic Antrim Coast, the Giants Causeway is one of the most stunning sights in Europe and a definite must see in Ireland!
• At number 424 is the Titanic Experience Belfast, situated on the site where the Titanic was built, is a fully interactive museum giving visitors a first-hand experience of the creation of the world’s most famous ship.
• The Cliffs of Moher are certainly another must see attraction along the Irish coast. Ranked 378 by the Lonely Planet, these 700 feet high cliffs are a real example of the startlingly beautiful Atlantic Coast.

Lonely Planet also names three additional Irish attractions easily accessible to students; the Bru na Bóinne valley, the Rock of Castle and Trinity College in the heart of Dublin. Trinity College boasts alumni including Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett and is home to the book of Kells and a copy of the Irish Proclamation of Independence. 

We might be a small country but we have a lot to offer!
