Summer has landed! The sun is shining, places are open and ready for the season and we are about to welcome our first group of students next week! Summer programmes in Limerick or Dublin would not be complete without our much loved co-curricular events!

Here is an outline of our Summer events - which are not to be missed by the way!!

Riverdance at the Gaiety Theatre-  Register on Portal!

Always a fantastic night out! An innovative and exciting fusion of Irish and international dance, Riverdance propels traditional dance and music into the present day, capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures. Riverdance broke all box office records during its world première run in Dublin and has continued to set new records in packed theatres and arenas throughout North America, Australia and New Zealand, Asia, Europe, South Africa and most recently South America.

Belfast and Titanic Tour (Leaving from Dublin)- Register on Arcadia Portal

Ever since travel bible Lonely Planet named Belfast as one of its best locations to visit in 2018, this often misunderstood city has gone to the top of everyone’s must-visit list.  Local academic Dr Therese Cullen will start off the day in guiding Arcadia staff and students throughout Belfast, pointing out unique Victorian neighbourhoods, modern flourishes and contextualising the plethora of political murals covering many public and private buildings.  While the scars of the “Troubles” will be featured, we will also see that Belfast is now a forward looking cultural hub.

In the afternoon we will head to the Titanic for one of Ireland’s most loved attractions!!

Located in the heart of Belfast, Titanic Belfast is a world-leading visitor attraction that features nine interpretive and interactive galleries depicting the creation and demise of the famous ocean liner.  Together we will explore the sights, sounds and smells of RMS Titanic, which was built in Belfast, as well as the city and people who grew up with her.

Day trip to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park- Register on Arcadia Portal

This is a special day! We will collect you on campus at UL and take the short bus journey to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Set on 26 acres of unspoilt Clare countryside, Bunratty Folk Park features over 30 buildings in a ‘living’ village and rural setting.

Rural farmhouses, village shops and streets are recreated and furnished as they would have appeared at that time according to their social standing, from the poorest one roomed dwelling to Bunratty House a fine example of a Georgian residence built 1804 home of the Studdarts, the last family to occupy Bunratty Castle.

The most complete and authentic Castle in Ireland is Bunratty Castle! The site on which Bunratty Castle stands was in origin a Viking trading camp in 970. The present structure is the last of four castles to be built on the site.

We will take you for lunch in a much loved Irish pub before we head back to campus!

Excited?? We are!!
