Gavin has devoted many years of study to the languages and philosophical traditions of South Asia, with a particular interest in early Indian Buddhism and the iconography of the Trans-Himalayan regions of Ladakh and Spiti. A passionate educator, Gavin spent 8 years developing and leading international education programs for various North American institutions throughout Nepal, India, Tibet and Indonesia. In the United States, where he lived for 7 years, Gavin developed and led a crisis intervention training program at the 24-hour Crisis Clinic in Seattle. Most recently, Gavin was the Head of Training and Business Development for an organisation that delivered transformative education programs in schools throughout Australia.
An avid outdoor adventurer and mountaineer, Gavin has trekked throughout the Himalaya and climbed extensively in Washington, Argentina, Nepal and New Zealand.
Gavin completed a Bachelor of Asian Studies from Australian National University and following graduation continued his studies at several traditional centres of learning in Myanmar and India.
