Aberdeen Artists Society Annual Exhibition: Until 21 June, Aberdeen Art Gallery

A popular annual open exhibition which gives professional, amateur and emerging artists the opportunity to show their work. Music, Comedy and Dance

Commonwealth Ceilidh Dance: 21 June, Music Hall, 7.30pm

Sat Jun 21 marks the worldwide Commonwealth Ceilidh Dance. Dancing begins in New Zealand at 7.30pm local time, then moves to Australia, Japan and finally Scotland at 7.30pm our time.

Lectures, Sports and Local Festivals

Queen's Baton Relay in Aberdeen City: 30 June, Various Venues and Times

An event for local primary and secondary school pupils to come and try one or more of the 17 Commonwealth Games sports, including para sports, and dance activities organized through City Moves. Aberdeen Football Club deliver festivals at schools and Young Ambassadors and health and Wellbeing ambassadors are on hand to support and encourage pupils and teachers to engage in various activities. An Older People Wellbeing team delivers events after the Golden Games at various venues and within local care homes. There is also an evening Relay celebration within the city center.

Aberdeen Country Fair: 28 June, Belmont Street

Attracting over 30,000 visitors on the last Saturday of every month, the market boasts 36 – 40 stalls including a mix of over 25 local and guest producers, and local craft products. Stallholders include family-run butchers HM Sheridan; Hubertus Game; Ingram's Homecure (bacon, pork, sausages and cured meats); Cove Bay Nursery’s eggs and vegetables; Granite City and Arbroath Quality Fish; Alan Bruce’s gluten-free cakes; Crannach Bakery’s artisan breads and celebration cakes from Cakes by Design. Cheese and dairy products are sold by Devenick Dairy (also cheesecakes and rose veal) and IJ Mellis, cider by Thistly Cross and fruit wines from Cairn O’Mohr.
