Duncan Shanks: Sketchbooks: Throughout April, Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery
Distinguished landscape artist Shanks has bequeathed to the Hunterian his entire collection of sketchbooks from the past 45 years, which amount to more than 100 volumes. The collection has been catalogued, and here a selection from them is on display.
Ingenious Impressions: The Coming of the Book: Throughout April, Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery
The first major UK exhibition to explore the history of the printed book, this features treasures from the University of Glasgow collection and focuses on themes such as the transition from vellum to paper, the identity and role of the first printers, the content of the earliest printed books and book ownership and collecting.

This exhibition looks at the influences on Gray himself, and his own influence on others, drawing on works in the Gallery's collection.

The Irish comedy star and host of BBC2's Mock the Week returns to with his observational humour in a new show – Crowd Tickler.
Commonfest: 17 April, Queen Margaret Union, 7pm
A festival that blends comedy, spoken word and music. Organised by Common Weal North Glasgow, the aim is to inspire the people of Scotland to vote in May's General Election. Acts include Kid Canaveral, Alan Bissett, Elaine C Smith and many others.
