StAnza Poetry Festival: 5-9 March, Various Venues throughout St Andrews

The only regular festival dedicated to poetry in Scotland, StAnza is international in outlook and now widely recognized as a major poetry festival in the UK and in Europe.

The festival is an opportunity to engage with a wide variety of poetry, to hear world class poets reading in exciting and atmospheric venues, to experience a range of performances where music, film, dance and poetry work in harmony, to view exhibitions linking poetry with visual art and to discover the part poetry has played in the lives of a diverse range of writers, musicians and media personalities. The simple intention of StAnza is to celebrate poetry in all its many forms.

The Gershwins musical comedy performed by the St Andrews Musical Society.

Scottish Art from the Murdo Macdonald Collection: 5 March, MUSA, 1pm

Join Emma Jane Wells, Co-Director of Museum Collections, for the chance to see modern prints, drawings and paintings by eminent Scottish artists.

Meet the Artist:Stephen Raw: 7 March, St Andrews Town Hall, 12pm

His exhibition Was it for this the clay grew still is a response to the work of the poet Wilfred Owen – this event is an opportunity to view the works with the artist present and to ask him questions about them.

Scottish Book Trust Showcase: 8 March, St Andrews Town Hall, 12.45pm

Reading features four of the recipients of the Scottish Book Trust New Writers Awards: Andrew Sclater, Marion McCready, Kathrine Sowerby and Tracey S. Rosenberg.

A national week of action on climate change, engaging people in the local community through a week of activities. It raises awareness and informs people about local practical projects and solutions which they can get involved with in order to make a low-carbon future a reality

Meet the Brewer: St Andrews Brewing Co.: 4 March, St Andrews Brewery, 8pm

An hour long talk and Q n A from the brewer (not a sales rep or anyone: the actual folk who create and brew these great beers) with samples from the featured brewery, snacks n nibbles.
