Bannockburn 700--Remember Bannockburn!: Throughout the Beginning of June, Smith Art Gallery & Museum

To mark the 700th anniversary of the battle of Bannockburn this exhibition looks back at the history of the battle site, the Bannockburn community, the impact of the battle on the Scottish nation and how it has been represented in visual art over the years.

A Dream of Stirling: Norman McLean's Scottish Dawn: Throughout the Beginning of June, Smith Art Gallery & Museum

Exhibition on the life and work of Stirling-born award-winning filmmaker Norman McLaren.

Iona Leishman: Warscape: 1 June, Stirling Castle

Paintings inspired by the work of poems commissioned by National Trust for Scotland to commemorate the Battle of Bannockburn.

Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes: 7 June, Tolbooth, 7.30pm

The two renowned Scottish folk singers and long time good pals join together on a tour reflecting on their lives in music.

Central Scotland Ballet School: 7-8 June, MacRobert, 2pm and 7pm

A showcase of dances and songs made famous by the silver screen, performed by almost 500 dancers.

Lectures, Sports and Local Festivals

Stirling Triathlon: 1 June, University of Stirling

This triathlon is aimed at all abilities from complete novice to club and elite triathletes, as well as charity and fun competitors. All entrants will receive a goodie bag with race day memento. There are both adult and junior (8–16) (17–19) events.

Let's Dance Festival: Throughout the Beginning of June, MacRobert

The third round of the festival features more fearless dance performances along with a number of workshops to get everyone moving and shaking (not just the professionals!). There's also special events for kids and school groups, pop-up performances, and a few film screenings for when your overworked feet need a wee rest.
