Tony McManus: 7 March, Tolbooth, 8pm

Acclaimed guitarist Tony McManus has been called ‘the best Celtic guitarist in the world’ by legendary English guitarist John Renbourn, and is known for his virtuosic finger-style performances on the steel-string guitar. To find a voice on so ubiquitous an instrument as the acoustic guitar is quite an achievement. Scots born and now Canada based, from early childhood Tony’s twin obsessions of traditional music and acoustic guitar have worked together to produce a startlingly original approach.

macrobert Gala: 7 March, macrobert, 7pm

macrobert is delighted to announce our second Gala Evening following a fantastic inaugural event last year. This year will be a sell-out so don’t delay in securing your tickets. Gala Evening 2014 includes a champagne reception and canapés followed by the live programme featuring Company Chordelia with Scottish Opera, All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre and the Loveboat Big Band. A delicious late supper will be followed by dancing until 1am.  Dress: Cocktail or Black Tie

All-day accordion and fiddle competitions, prize-winners concert and a closing dance, if your feet weren’t already a-tapping.

The Scottish Sabbath–The Do’s and Don’ts: 12 March, St Mary’s Church, 7pm

Dr Alastair Durie, a well known Stirling speaker will give an amusing and entertaining talk on The Scottish Sabbath, drawing on his expertise as an Historian and Lay member of the Church of Scotland.

David Edwards: Monserrat–Reclaiming Paradise: 12 March, Logie Lecture Theatre, 7.30pm

Edwards discusses the effects that the Soufrière Hills volcano explosion had on the island.
