The celebrated Scottish author takes an enlightening look back at her 23 year career.

Traditional music from master flautist McGoldrick (Flook, Lunasa and Capercaillie), McCusker (Battlefield Band) and guitarist Doyle.

Stuart Maconie The People’s Songs: 21 February, Tolbooth, 8pm

Spend an evening in the company of this popular and prolific TV and radio presenter, journalist, columnist and author as he talks about his new book and epic radio series, The People’s Songs, a social history of modern Britain told through pop singles. It’s a project that Stuart is both proud of and passionate about and tells the story of modern Britain through the records that we listened to and loved during the dramatic and kaleidoscopic period from the Second World War to the present day.

Hedda Gabler: 27 February, macrobert, 7.30pm

Icarus Theatre Collective present Ibsen’s classic.

“These impulses come over me all of a sudden, and I just can’t resist them.”

Hedda Gabler, one of the most notorious heroes in theater, saw her time as a single girl run out and so she married academic George Tesman, a man she clearly no longer loves – if, indeed, she ever did. Now Hedda is driven to diabolical ends trying to discover purpose in her life as she increasingly finds the world closing in on her.
