On May 18th is the International Museum Day. The aim of this day is to raise awareness of the importance of museums ascultural exchange, enrichment of cultures, as well as for thedevelopment of mutual understanding, the collaboration and peacebetween the villages.
Withthe theme "Museums for equality: diversity andinclusion" this year theobjective is to become a meeting point to celebrate the diversity ofperspectives that make up museum communities and staff, as well aspromote tools to identify and overcome prejudices in what museumsshow and tell.

The celebration has been altered by the Coronavirus crisis and the events will be transferred to the networks.These are some of the proposals in Barcelona to celebrate this day, which you can follow with the hashtags # DIM2020 and#museusperlaigualtat.

  • PICASSO MUSEUM

-Virtual Tour: The staff of the Museu Picasso discover some of the works of the permanent collection within the framework of the International Museum Day. The activity can be followed through socialnetworks Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and the hashtag #MuseusPerLaIgualtat.

-Music for Picasso's work: They will be hosting the virtual celebration of the International Museum Day with a musical proposal: the compositions by the students of theDepartments of Composition and Chamber Music of the LiceuConservatory, inspired by works of Picasso from our collection.

The foundation joins the challenge of the Museum Week and each day of the week will sharea different content through networks. The museum also offers different resources to get into the work of Joan Miró, such as readings chosen by the museum staff (read from the library) or thePlay Miró resource.

Throughout all Monday 18, the MACBA offers streaming projection of the first chapter of 'Singularity' Albert Serra's installation presented in the Pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2015.

You can visit La Pedrera - Casa Milá accompanied by the curator and art historian Silvia Vilarroya, through Instagram Live. The days beforethe live show (Mon. 18th, 12pm - Spain), the audience will be able tochoose between visiting the neighbors' flat or the Ballena's attic,where is the space dedicated to the Gaudí's work
