This week, some of our students had opportunity to take a class of Rumba Catalana; one of the most typical and cheerful dances here in Catalonia!

Catalan Rumba, also known as Gypsy Rumba, is not flamenco, pop or rock music. It is a way of living, sensing and expressing feelings. This kind of music, born in the heart of Barcelona during the Sixties, is without a doubt as much part of Catalan identity as the typical folk dance Sardana or Castellers, the traditional human towers.

A really nice experience to learn how to dance these cheerful sounds and meet local people!

These pieces were created by student contributors. The views and opinions expressed are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of Arcadia Abroad.
