Congratulations! You have chosen “homestay” as your housing option while studying in Barcelona and it´s great! :)

By chosing to live with a Spanish family you are doing a huge step towards multiple positive changes and experiences: not only you will be able to familiarize with how Spanish people live, to try authentic Spanish/ Catalan cuisine, you are also opening your mind to perceive and absorb a new culture, language and traditions.

This is a truly enriching experience and a very effective way to practise and improve your Spanish language skills.

Our “families” have years of experience hosting students and our students make very close connections with them. They really feel like they have a “second home” here.

While living with a host family you will enjoy the breakfast and dinner – the best moment to learn, use and practise the new Spanish words, expressions, interchange the traditions and customs. Like for example during one of the Thanksgiving Day, one of the host family´s had surprised the student with the versions of typical dishes you do back home! :)

Although you are free and have your spare key and no curfew, Arcadia expects their students to respect the fact you are living in a “family” and use common sense when/ if coming home late.

Once you are here, we encourage you to really open your mind, immerse yourself in this experience and practise practise practise by talking Spanish most of the time and don´t be afraid making mistakes, you host family is there to help and correct you!
