Study Abroad as a Quarter School Student
Studying abroad poses unique challenges for students attending a quarter school, as the academic calendars and financial aid may not align perfectly. Here are some key considerations for quarter-school students planning to study abroad:
- Prioritize the Fall term for smoother integration into your academic schedule, as most programs lasting around 15 weeks will synchronize well with your quarter calendar.
- Explore studying abroad in your 4th quarter – Summer, to ensure you don't miss any campus time.
- Opt for a year-long commitment! Two semesters of study abroad can earn you from 42 to 45 credits, equivalent to a full year of quarter credits and providing a more comprehensive experience.
- For full-year programs, note that Southern Hemisphere programs begin their year in late January or February and continue through to late Fall. Additionally, Northern Hemisphere Academic years in locations like Australia can enable students to accumulate up to 32 semester credits, equating to 48 quarter credits, surpassing a full year's quarter school credit load.
