Prof. Martínez holds a degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Granada with extraordinary prize. He holds postgraduate degrees of University Expert in Genetic Medicine and Genomics, and in Biotechnology, from the Catholic University 'San Antonio' of Murcia and the National University. Additionally, he is accredited as a Specialist in Human Genetics. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology III of the University of Granada. Additionally, he is the Head of the Genomics Unit at the GENYO Centre and co-leads the IMA S0087 group, BIO-354, which focuses on the search for molecular biomarkers associated with genetically based diseases. Prof. Martínez also collaborates in several master’s programs and supervises doctoral dissertations, besides doing research and publications, and participating in international and national projects.
