Arcadia faculty use London itself as the classroom, taking you into the streets to bring your studies to life in the communities and places you are learning about. Visits to galleries, theaters, historical sites, local communities and markets give you insights and experiences that augment your classroom learning, giving you genuine insight into this exciting city, its diverse population and traditions and its incredibly rich culture.

You will enroll in 4 courses and earn 16 credits. One course is a required Cornerstone Course about your London experience. You will select your other 3 courses from a wide variety offered.

LONS HSSN 112 Showcasing The Nation: First-Year Cornerstone Course - 4 credits

In this cornerstone course, first-year students will reflect on notions of national identity in the context of Britain’s history from the last 100 years. Students will navigate London’s complicated narratives, think critically about how Britain presents itself to the rest of the world, and analyze unfamiliar aspects of what it means to be British. This course will foster community engagement through site visits, required readings and personal interviews, and will assess student learning outcomes through various short essays, presentations, classroom discussions, and a final paper.
