- How does the IEC help me meet our Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence goals?
- The IEC is designed to expand access and inclusivity by providing institutions with excellent education abroad programs at an affordable cost which reduces financial obstacles to study aboard opportunities while helping students successfully meet their academic and global goals. Arcadia also understands that many high-need students are more likely to succeed with personal attention and on-site support: Arcadia provides personalized advising, trained and experienced staff, and support throughout the application process and on-site experience.
- What Arcadia programs are included in the IEC?
- As of the publishing of this FAQ, there are 15 curated IEC programs in 8 locations. We are always looking to add programs to create additional opportunities, so the list may change occasionally. You can view the most current complete list here.
- Are all Arcadia programs in an IEC location included?
- What happens when one of my students wants to apply to a non-IEC location?
- Any student from an IEC member school may certainly apply to Arcadia programs outside of the IEC list. They would simply submit an application and, once confirmed, they (or your institution) would be billed the fees as posted on the program page for that term.
-
What is the cost of IEC programs?
-
IEC program fees are accessibly priced at or below $15,750*. Arcadia Abroad is investing in our commitment to accessibility and excellence by offering IEC programs to IEC members for a discounted price of $15,750*. This fee typically includes tuition and room. If any IEC program fee is regularly priced lower than $15,750, the lower price will apply.
- Can a student apply for Arcadia scholarships in addition to the discounted IEC program cost?
- No. The IEC programs are already substantially discounted and function, in effect, as a “scholarship.” If a student is applying to a non-IEC program, they are welcome to submit a scholarship application.
- How will Arcadia bill my institution/my student for an IEC program?
- On each bill, we'll list the full cost of the program--broken out by tuition and room (which is Arcadia's standard practice). We will leave the decision up to each university as to how to apply the discount across tuition and housing. We know each university has its own financial model for study abroad, so we want to give you flexibility as to how you pass on the discount to students. If you want to reduce the room portion for students, or the tuition portion, or charge them the $15,750 overall, or charge students the full Arcadia fee and use the discount as a scholarship--those are some possibilities, and it's up to you.
- How does it work if we have students on an IEC program and other students on non-IEC programs?
- All students on Arcadia programs apply and have access to all Arcadia services, whether they are part of the IEC or not. The only difference will be on the billing statement.
- Each school must fulfill its 10% Student Enrollment minimum commitment each year, so that may be a consideration for which Arcadia programs students apply to.
- Please explain the 10% commitment to be part of the IEC Coalition.
- Each institution commits to having 10% of their total annual semester/year study abroad students participate in Coalition programs each year. New members to the IEC will have a two-year grace period to reach the 10%.
- What happens if we can’t meet the 10% minimum required number of students?
- New IEC members will have two years to reach the 10% minimum requirement. During those two years, please don't hesitate to reach out to your Arcadia representative for help with ideas and suggestions for promotion, marketing, curriculum integration, etc. in order to reach the needed number of students. If you don’t think you can reach the 10% after the first two years, please discuss this with your Arcadia representative. We're hear to help and can explore other opportunities to support your institution's study abroad objectives.
- Who do I contact if I have questions about the IEC, programs, cost, billing, etc?
*Arcadia commits to keeping Coalition programs at or below $15,750 through Spring 2025. Any increases after Spring 2025 will be in alignment with the higher education price index.
