Applicants to the University of Cambridge must submit two graded academic writing samples in your major subject(s) of study. These writing samples should be at least 1500 words in length (excluding footnotes and bibliography).
Oxford applicants must submit marked copies of two graded academic writing samples in your major subject(s) of study. These marked copies of your academic work should include your professor's comments and grade. These writing samples should be at least 1500 words in length (excluding footnotes and bibliography).
Students who wish to study in mathematics, science, engineering, quantitative economics, music, or related fields, who do not have lengthy prose writing samples. may submit documents in other formats. Acceptable documents include but are not limited to problem sets, lab reports or experiment writeups, case studies, or exams, as long as the exams are not primarily multiple choice.
English Literature writing samples must be papers relating to literary criticism or literary analysis - creative writing samples are not accepted as application documents.
If you are applying to two different departments, you must submit one writing sample in each subject area you wish to study.
